Not far from my home in Sanford, Michigan... in the neighboring city of Midland, is a wonderful place called Dow Gardens. First started in 1899, by Herbert Dow, the founder of the Dow Chemical Company, as a hobby for himself and a place to share with his family and friends, the Gardens have grown to 110 acres today. Supported by the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, the gardens are enjoyed by people from all over the world. With wandering paths, trees and flowers of all varieties, bridges and streams.... this has become recently, my new favorite place to wander and unwind from the stresses of my job. It is also proving to be a good place to practice my picture taking. As the seasons move, there is always something new to see, and familiar sights like old friends around every bend. Locals all know about the "red bridge" and the stones, which have become favorite spots for wedding and prom portraits, senior pictures and landscape photography.
I'm sharing just a few of the photos I have taken in recent weeks, which are or soon will be available in the shop. As the springturns to summer and then fall, I hope to add to these and eventually present the whole year from the gardens. I can hardly wait for next spring when they open the new canopy walk over neighboring Whiting Forest. I can hardly imagine the photo opportunities that will bring.
So,... enjoy these pics, and remember to visit the shop for these and more. All available as framed, metal, canvas or acrylic wall art, as well as calendars, mugs, tote bags, magnets.... the list goes on.
